Fall Foot Care Tips

Fall Foot Care Tips

It’s that time of year where you may be starting to switch your wardrobe from summer to fall, which includes your shoes! Although many people fail to realize it, participating in proper fall foot care is essential in keeping your feet protected during the autumn season. Here at Cherrywood Foot Care, our team strives to do everything we can to ensure that you have the information needed to keep your feet happy and healthy year-round! For some of the most beneficial tips for fall foot care, please continue reading.

Limit Nail Polish Use

Getting pedicures often throughout the summer is something that many people do. With open-toed shoes now being stored away, it’s time to take a break from this activity. Toenails can begin to deteriorate when nail polished too often. With toes covered for much of the fall season, it is the perfect time to stay away from polish.

Choose Your Boots Carefully

Whether they be for fashion or hiking, boots are a favorite footwear trend for the fall. Although it can be tempting to purchase the first pair you see, doing so can be detrimental to your foot health. Before heading to the cashier with a new pair of boots, please consider the following:

  • The toe box is wide enough to prevent friction from taking place.
  • Both your ankles and arches are adequately supported.
  • The boots fit snuggly, but not tight enough to restrict circulation.

Additional Foot Care Methods

At Cherrywood Foot Care, our team is well-versed in keeping our patient’s feet healthy no matter what time of year it is. When the calendar switches to autumn, it can be easy to slack on your foot care methods. However, doing so would be a disservice to your overall foot health. Some additional care methods include:

  • Exfoliate your feet at least once a week.
  • Perform warm foot soaks throughout the season.
  • Apply moisturizing cream to combat the dry air.
